The AN-94 has been one of Season 5’s underused and underestimated guns in Call of duty Modern Warfare, both in multiplayer and WarZone.
Why? Well, for starters, it wasn’t introduced until season 5. The gun can be unlocked at tier 31. Additionally, gamers, both casual and pro, have been fine-tuning other guns since Call of Duty Modern Warfare was first released.
AN-94 with Shadow Tracer rounds
But, since the AN-94 with shadow tracer rounds is unlockable for free at tier 100, the AN-94 is becoming more popular! If you haven’t unlocked it yet, try to grind out those last levels, as you won’t get the shadow tracer version until you reach battle pass tier 100 in season 5.
Let’s face it, tracer rounds have that little extra cool’ness about them that you just want to use. Especially if you don’t purchase tracer round guns in the store. Hardcore free to play players will no doubt be excited about the shadow tracers.
But, regardless of whether or not you’re a fan of tracer rounds, let’s dive into my favorite setup for the AN-94.
Best AN-94 Gun Setups
1. The Beast
I call this class “The Beast”. After trying out dozens of attachment combinations, and getting stomped round after round, I finally felt like “I found it” when I created this setup.
It’s fast, it’s accurate, and it hurts. Nothing speaks for the quality of a gun build until you try it and you notice it for yourself. Some guns just have that little extra. With this build, I’ve found myself being able to take out multiple opponents in quick succession much more often than with other guns.
Attachments:
- Factory X-438mm barrel – Helps with range and recoil.
- Tac laser – It gives it that final boost of draw speed to make it buttery smooth.
- Holographic sight – Unfortunately the iron sights on the AN-94 are downright awful. Use your personal close to medium range sight.
- Commando Foregrip – Perhaps my favorite grip. Helps with recoil, at a minimal speed cost.
- Stippled grip tape – It gives it the extra draw speed you need.
Pros:
The draw is fast enough for close combat encounters. The recoil is very manageable due to the barrel and commando foregrip. While the tac laser does give away your position, it only does so while aiming.
Cons:
There are two cons to this setup, no silencer, and the 30-round-magazine. The gun is accurate and strong enough to take 2-3 opponents per clip, though. But regardless, the 30-round clip just isn’t quite enough for situations with continuous action, like the Shipment map.
2. Loaded
If the previous loadout just doesn’t cut it for you, due to the 30-round-magazine, this loadout is for you. It’s still fast, yet offers a 60-round clip. The recoil isn’t quite as good, but still controllable. Check out a recoil video below.

- 60 round magazine – Max amount of ammo for close quarter games.
- Stippled grip tape – It gives it the extra draw speed you need.
Pros:
The draw is fast enough for close combat encounters. The recoil OK, and you get a whopping 60-round-magazine. This should allow you to rack up multiple kills without having to reload.
Cons:
The lack of the commando foregrip shows as the recoil is harder to control, but it’s still manageable. The draw, though, is still fast enough to engage in fast-paced games. Lastly, this loadout does not feature a silencer.
